Dear Parent/ Carer,

What we will be doing and why we will be doing it

This term our topic is The Victorians. During this this topic, we will be exploring what it was like to live in the Victorian Times. In History, we will look at what life was like for children, focussing on life in the workhouse and education for children. In Science, we will be looking at Victorian Inventors and looking at the inventions that were created during the Victorian Period.

In Art, we will be looking at the designer William Morris. We will learn about his life and then create our own wall paper in the style of William Morris using different techniques such as sketching and printing.

In English, we will be writing our own short stories based on the text ‘The paradise Garden’. Later in the term we will be focusing on the text ‘Street Child’. We will use our knowledge from our learning in history and the text itself to write diary entries from the view point of the children in the story.

This term in Maths we will be covering place value, properties of number, addition and subtraction, angles and circles and multiplication.
